John Pelaez has been playing sports since he can remember and it is one of the most
important outlets for him to express himself. As a youth in the city of Boston, he was involved
in many team sports, which has helped his communication skills and the importance of knowing
how to adapt to different styles of play. Soccer and Football were the most vital sports in his
upbringing as he was able to feel a sense of community in both wins and losses. He views team
chemistry as a big fundamental to a successful team and being able to have confidence in the
player right beside him to successfully perform the task. As a balance to working in teams, he
was also involved in many individual sports, giving him a base to problem solve on his own in
difficult situations. He embraced mixed martial arts as a youth, where he was taught about
discipline and patience.
He is currently the Pickleball Coordinator and Head Coach at the Kingsbury Club in Medfield,
and has been coaching this great sport since 2020. He and his wife picked up the sport
together in 2018 and have not looked back since. They play together in the highest levels
around New England, even traveling to different states to compete along-side each other.
Pickleball has been an important sport to John as he has found it to be the perfect mesh
between an individual and team sport. Without any “racquets” experience, John was able to
jump in head first and immerse himself with the culture. When he started coaching Pickleball in
early 2020, it introduced him to many extraordinary people and connections around the region.
John’s mission when joining Eleven-0 is to help create a unique, fun, and welcoming
community while still keeping a fun and social atmosphere for ALL pickleball players.
